The Grand Lake Family YMCA provides a variety of fitness classes for a beginner or an advanced group fitness class participant. We have Yoga, Tai Chi Movement, high impact, low impact, silver Sneakers, and many other classes. The links above list our current schedule of classes, the instructors for those classes, and provides a description of the type of class that it is. Typically our more intense and advance classes are in the upstairs fitness studio, while our silver sneakers, and less intense classes are held in the downstairs fitness studio. This class routine embodies strength, flexibility and range of movement exercises to help maintain an active daily lifestyle. The class is open to all ages with a specific focus on those 50+ years old. The class will use resistance tools such as weights, tubes, and balls.
A mixture of circuit training, core pump and cardio.

A special class designed to promote range of motion and flexibility as well as provide light toning and aerobic exercise. Chairs may be used for stability as needed. This is a great class for anyone with arthritis.
A class designed for low to medium impact on joints while still getting a full-body exercise.
Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND® transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. This is a full body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rocking out! This workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities .
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers® balls are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Easy-to-follow, freestanding, low-impact choreography that is safe, heart healthy and easy on the joints. This "get up and go" class includes upper body strengthening, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation choreography.
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a stand circuit workout. Upper body strength with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® balls are alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
Will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of poses designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
A form of aerobic exercise using an elevated platform.
An ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.
Stimulate your body and activate your muscles in this Vinyasa (flow) yoga class taught using Yoga Fit® principles and guidelines. Using sticky mats, blocks and straps along with breathing techniques and principles of alignment, you'll enjoy and increase in flexibility, stamina and energy.
A pool class designed for low impact on joints while still getting a full body exercise. (WATER FITNESS WILL RETURN NEXT SUMMER, AFTER MEMORIAL DAY)Yoga: This yoga class is a fusion of Iyengar, Hatha and Astanga styles of yoga. This class emphasizes correct alignment and moving with breath. Practiced on a regular basis, these powerful techniques build strength, balance and flexibility; enhance concentration and body awareness, reduce anxiety, stress and pain.
Exhilarating, Latin-inspired fitness dance class that includes hip-hop, salsa, mambo and some martial arts.

The Y will have 8 week/2 days per week boot camps at various times through out the year. Dues are charged for these programs, and the class is taught by a certified personal trainer. Activities will include but will not be limited to: tire flipping, push ups, burpees, sit ups, crunches, jump rope, lunges, squats, speed and agility drills. These classes are held outdoors at the Grove sports complex, but you meet at the Y to group up. This class is for adults only must be 18 years or older. This class is for female adults and teaches various weighting exercises during an 8 week class. 2 - 3 exercises per muscle group will be taught during the 8 week program. At the end of the class participants will be able to make their own workout from the exercises they are taught. Lessons the fear of going to a gym and not knowing what you are doing.
