Kurt Hagen, volunteer instructor for the YMCA fencing program. If you have ever wanted to try fencing now is the time. It is a very challenging, and fun sport. The class is for 12 year olds through adults. Class Meets on Thursday evenings 7:00 PM at the Grove Y upstairs fitness studio. Cost is $10 per month for Y members and $15 per month for non-members. Dues for the program must be paid by the 2nd week of each month. For more information contact Dakota Cochran, Membership Director at the YMCA at 918-786-5774. We invite anyone who wants to check the class out to just show up and we will let you observe the class.
This class helps older adults improve their balance and reduce the chance of falling. Research has shown that people who complete the program are half as likely to fall and are less fearful about falling. Participants will learn balance skills, good body and alignment, and coordinated Tai-Chi movements. This class is no longer a pay for class it has been included with our regular fitness classes that are fee to YMCA members. See the fintess schedule for more information.
Women On Weights Class
Temporarily susupended due to covid
This program will teach women 18 and older how to perform 3-4 exercises per muscle group during the course of the 4 week program. By the end of the 4 weeks participants will be able to develop a strength training program from the exercises learned in the class.
Class will meet for 4 weeks on Wednesdays & Fridays. Dates for 2021 have yet to be determined due to social distancing and covid virus. Look for more information as restrictions due to covid change.
YMCA members - $25 per participant
Non YMCA members - $40 per participant
This outdoor Boot Camp will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Dates TBA. Agility drills, strength exercises, weighted push sleds, body weight exercises, and plyometrics will be used in the classe to get you to the best physical you. The class will be a great way to jumpstart your workout or if you are just looking for a change and something different. Class will be held at the Grove Sports complex, but will meet at the YMCA for the first class. Open to all levels of fitness.
